She may not have fit the rock and roll genre of her early years but there should have been a place for her in our awareness for much longer. She surpassed the greatest recording of it that I'd ever heard, the wonderful performance of the jazz great Roberta Sherwood in the 1950s. Her "Killing Me Softly" brought tears to my eyes. Susan Boyle will have a long and illustrous career, and I'm over the moon. Miss Boyle knocked my socks off when she began to sing “Cry Me a River.” She surpassed the greatest recording of it that I’d ever heard, the wonderful performance of the jazz great Roberta Sherwood in the 1950s.
